Funny Joke #1

I went to buy my breakfast yesterday and this was what happened.
Copyrighted@beautyjenn.blogspot.com

Food stall chef - Her
Me: One plate black carrot cake please...
Her: Ok

I saw a baby cockroach crawling at the chlli sauce area which is separated from the cooking area by a glass wall*
Her: That will be 3 dollars please.
Me: Miss, there is a cockroach here.

Her hand reached out for the $3
Her: There are cockroaches everywhere here. No need to panic. As long as there are eggs, there will be cockroaches.

I looked at the food grading certificate. What an irony. Its an A.

Tribute to my dad. Wake up Daddy!

More than 3 weeks ago, I posted a link on facebook to write a tribute for their dads.
I wrote a tribute then but I did not submit it.

He is still in a coma after a stroke and car accident about 4 days ago on Sunday morning. Until now, we do not know what happened that fateful dawn. We only knew that a blood vessel burst and a blood clot formed in the left brain, causing a stroke which left him unable to move his right part of the body, hand and leg. Did the stroke occur first? Or did he get a shock just before the head on car collision occurred?

As left brain controls speech, my dad cannot speak or swallow. He also cannot cough out his phlegm. Right now, he is fighting infection and high fever. Doctors said he has a high chance of a second stroke which might cause death or complicate matters.

When I saw the adverts by KFC focusing on 'Dad and Family' as the theme, I was reminded of the past when he brought all 5 kids and my mum to the restaurant which had white plates and metal cutlery. He often brought us to the KFC restaurant on Sun at 7pm when we were children some 20 yrs ago... And we have not been having dinner together ever since we grew up... That's the saddest part, we didn't treasure the times we had together and when things happened, then we get together. Just one year ago, I lay on the hospital bed due to pneumonia, he visited me. but now he is the one lying there. I wished I could have suffered for him. I wished I had spent more time with him. I wish he wake up and recover soon.
I wish it was just a nightmare.

This was what I wrote for my dad more than 3 weeks ago...

You spoke to us in dialect,
Peppered with vulgarities,
The words  which we lack the lect,
As schools  taught us English and Chinese…

You made us tremble in fear…
Never to be in the red,
To get full marks every year,
Otherwise our butts would not be spared…

You, the sole breadwinner knight…
Woke up earlier than us,
Worked from day till night,
Strengthened with calluses…

You brought us on lorry rides…
Our hair flipping wildly in the wind,
We could not afford luxury cars,
But love made all seven of us blind…

Through good and bad times…
You are the world’s greatest dad,
I repeat, throughout all times,
You are still the world’s greatest dad…

Daddy, Please wake up!

Scrapbooking - Making a Paper Rosette Using Martha Stewart Crafts punch

I punched the sides of a 12 inch by 1.5 inch paper with the Martha Stewart Crafts punch - blossom eyelet design.

This is how it looked like after I completed this project. I don't know how to reduce the double lines/folds caused by the gluing of the paper together...

Spoilt Sizzix Big Shot.

My Sizzix was spoilt after a few uses, I also didn't have much time to use it. I sent it in for repair a week after I bought it. The shop sales assistant told me it was misalignment... Hopefully I didn't have to pay or buy a new one... Keep my fingers crossed... I could only get it back two weeks later... so sad, I want to make a farewell card for my dear colleague who was going to retire but I guess I will have to contend with whatever I have. I have the impulse to get the Vintaj but one of the sales assistants told me it is not very compatible with the Sizzix dies.

Sizzix Big Shot - Lesson 1: Embossing a Valentine's Day Card

We need  the Sizzix Love set #2 embossing folders for this Project.

I wonder if my floor tile cracked because the big shot was too heavy? I didn't drop the big shot.
I noticed the crack when I took pictures of my embossing folders...

OMG! :(

The Core'dination card stock

$29.90 before 30% off.

The cutterpede
$49.95 before 40% off

Core'dinations Sand It Gadget...
$6.90 before 30%

My Paper:

Before...
Cut this paper to the size suitable for the 'A2' folder using  the cutterpede.

Run the paper through the big shot without folding the paper... After using the first embossing folder, it should look like this...

Flip the paper on the reverse side. Without folding the paper, use the smaller folders to emboss the other half of the page. Run through these through the Big Shot again and you should obtain this...

Use the Sand IT gadget to rub on this card to sand away the top surface so that the core colour will be exposed.

The front page will look like this after sanding.

Sand the inside of the card as well...

This is the inside after sanding...

This is my first lesson teaching myself how to use the machine to emboss a card. Hope it helps you too!
Have fun!

2nd Try at Scrapbooking...

Tried scrapbooking a page but thought it looked messy. Need to work harder.

The Rexel Smartcut A425 which cost $79.90, available from popular, was not not as great as I had imaged. It was not able to grip the paper and the paper to be cut kept moving about.

Ouch! Receding gums hurt so much! braces made it worse?!

After two visits to my orthodonist this month, I have been experiencing pain whenever liquid  or cold stuff moves past my front teeth. Even drinking water hurts.
I must make the liquid go straight to the throat to avoid the pain.

I cannot enjoy my ice creams, yogurt and cold drinks now...

:(
My teeth on 30 Jun 11:
the gums were not captured in this picture... the Pinkish part is the lip.

Look at my teeth!!! Photo taken some days ago.

It seems that my receding gums have loosened my teeth and when my front upper and lower teeth meet, there is pain and a tightness is experienced. Ever since my bottom front, Left 2 and Right 2 teeth started to move apart, the 2 middle teeth in the bottom front row hurt me so much. My gums seemed to recede and there's hardly any left to hold the roots of the teeth. They seemed quite shaky and  look as though they will drop off at any time.

I tasted blood on and off  these few days and I wonder if its due to the braces cutting into my gums and mouth or due to the gums?

I should have not used hard bristles to brush my teeth and not to have brushed with a lot of force.  My teeth's enamel are more exposed and the nerves getting too sensitive.

I will try to use those toothpaste for sensitive teeth. Any recommendations?

Bliss Hot Salt Scrub with Rosemary + Eucalyptus

I bought this Bliss Hot Salt Scrub (400g = 14.1oz) online through beauty.com in Oct last year, I didn't even touch it until now... Oh! Its almost a year already!

It retails at US$36. I shipped it to sg using vpost. There was no discount or free gift with the scrub. I got it because I tried the free sample sachet from a previous beauty.com purchase. My! Bliss Hot Salt Scrub was heavenly. And still is! :)

I really love the Eucalyptus scent, it is very soothing and calming.

When I opened the new container, the salt was already wet and I wondered if it was supposed to be dry in the first place. Perhaps, our climate has melted the salt?? (over one year?)

When you place some salt scrub on your palm, the salt immediately turns warm and the feeling is kind of nice. You are supposed to apply the salt to dry skin. I didn't read the instructions and used water. Next time I will remember not to wet my skin...

Though the price is quite steep, it is really very calming and great to use for a body scrub. Try it and you will love it!
